Wychwood
Brewery
Wychwood
Brewery commissioned
its new Brew house in 2004 with the Copper and
Mash Tun built by Bedford Stainless.
Our
first task for the Brewery was to resurrect the old Copper
dished end which was salvaged from the closure of Brakspears
Brewery in Henley-on-Thames. Unfortunately for us, the Copper
had been cut into 6 sections. Great care and skill was used
to weld the 200 year old top back into its original shape.
Once back together it took a further 160 hours of polishing
to restore it to its former glory.

With the copper end restored we then carried out a full
dimensional survey, which allowed us to design a new 32,000
ltr capacity stainless steel tank beneath it, once approved,
fabrication was carried out. The tank was built in 2 halves
and assembled on site at Witney near Oxford.

Meanwhile,
work was nearing completion on the Mash Tun, which now sits
alongside the copper. The Mash Tun has automated spent grain
removal and is fitted with a full wedge wire floor. Both
tanks are clad in Maple.
Grants of Girvan
Bedford
Stainless recently
completed the fabrication of 3 off 80,000 ltr Yeast Storage
Tanks in 316 grade stainless steel. The tanks had a 64°
bottom cone and were 10.6 mtrs high with a 3.7 mtr diameter.
